Manama His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today sent a cable of congratulations to the Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said, on Oman’s National Day. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister sent a similar cable to Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said.

Beijing Twenty-five people were killed in a fire at a coal company’s office building in China’s northern Shanxi province, state media said on Thursday. The fire broke out at 6:50 a.m. at the four-story Yongju Coal Industry Joint Building in the country’s top coal-producing hub of Shanxi. State broadcaster CCTV initially reported the fire killed 11 people and injured at least 51, before subsequently raising the reported death toll from the accident twice. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. Calls to Yongju Coal Industry were not answered.

Indian rescuers prepare to drill to reach 40 workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel since the weekend
Lucknow : Rescuers in northern India supplied food and medicine to 40 construction workers on Thursday as officials prepared to start drilling through the rubble to reach the men who have been trapped since a portion of the tunnel they were working on collapsed over the weekend. Rescuers planned to insert wide steel pipes to create a passage to free the workers trapped since early Sunday in the mountainous Uttarakhand state. Lucknow : Rescue teams were unable on Wednesday to reach 40 workers trapped in a collapsed highway tunnel in India, as huge boulders were blocking efforts to create an evacuation passage, officials said.
