Paris : The Bureau International des Expositions announced that Saudi Arabia won the right to host the Expo 2030 world fair. Saudi Arabia earned 119 votes during the 173rd general assembly meeting of the BIE. Riyadh competed against Busan, South Korea and Rome, Italy.  The expo world fairs, held since 1851, are an international platform that showcase development and achievements and promote international cooperation in economic, trade, arts, culture, science and technology sectors.

Manama : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) urges all economic activities practitioners whose annual VATable supplies exceeded within any of the previous twelve-months or are expected to exceed within any of the next twelve-months the mandatory registration threshold of BHD 37,500 to register for VAT, as the number of VAT payers registered until the end of the third quarter of 2023 has reached more than 22,800 entities. Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa will lead Bahrain’s delegation to the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) set to take place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Royal Court has announced. London : Mohamed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation and Communication, headed Bahrain’s delegation at the 33rd session of International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Assembly. The meeting was attended by more than 170 IMO member states, including 21 Arab countries, as well as more than 80 maritime organisations, bodies, and institutions. The meeting adopted various resolutions concerned with maritime transport industry and maritime navigation affairs. It also reviewed reports of IMO committees and subcommittees. Silkyara Rescuers in India are just six or seven metres (20-23 feet) away from 41 men trapped in a collapsed highway tunnel in the Himalayas for more than two weeks, and are confident of drilling through to reach them on Tuesday, officials said. Beijing : A violent rock burst in a coal mine killed 11 people in China’s northeastern Heilongjiang province on Tuesday, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported. Mining work can release pressure from surrounding formations and trigger a literal explosion of rocks. An initial assessment determined that is what caused the fatalities in Heilongjiang province, CCTV said. The Shuangyashan Coal Company, which operates the mine, was fined in the past for violating several safety regulations.
