Jakarta : At least 12 people died and 18 are missing after a torrential rain caused a landslide in an illegal gold mine over the weekend in Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, officials said on Monday. The landslide on Sunday morning in Suwawa district, Gorontalo province, killed miners and residents living near the illegal mine, said Heriyanto, head of the local rescue agency (Basarnas). Seoul : South Korea’s car exports are estimated to have reached a record US$37 billion for the first half of the year, according to industry data Sunday. Automobile exports are estimated to have increased 3.8 percent on-year during the January-June period to reach $37.01 billion, marking the highest tally for the first half of any year, according to tentative data from the industry ministry and the Korea International Trade Association. Islamabad : At least two people were killed and eight others injured following a roadside bomb explosion in northwest Pakistan. Police sources confirmed the attack occurred in the Mardan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Two of the wounded are reportedly in critical condition.
