Manama : Customs Affairs announced the application of the updated regulations, particularly customs duties, to incoming personal shipments and postal parcels. The announcement was in accordance with approved rules and procedures, as part of implementing the legal amendments to the Gulf Cooperation Council Unified Customs Law. Under these amendments, shipments and parcels valued at BD100 or more will be subject to customs duties, in addition to 10% value-added tax, depending on the type of goods and in accordance with the approved customs tariff schedule. Abu Dhabi : The Ministry of Defence announced that the UAE air defence systems today intercepted three UAVs that entered the country from the western border direction. A statement issued by the ministry said that two of the UAVs were successfully intercepted, while the third struck an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region. Riyadh : The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that Monday, May 18, marks the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH. Standing at Arafa (waqfat Arafa) will take place on Tuesday, May 26, while Eid Al-Adha will begin on Wednesday, May 27. Geneva : The World Health Organization (WHO) today declared an international public health emergency over the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
