New York, Sep 20 (IANS) Atopic dermatitis, a long-term type of inflammation of the skin, can significantly raise risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), an intestinal disorder, according to a new study. The study, published in the JAMA Dermatology journal, showed that while adults with atopic dermatitis have a 34 per cent increased risk of developing IBD, childrens have a 44 per cent increased risk.Atopic dermatitis is a chronic disease that causes inflammation, redness, and irritation of the skin.
