Manama : Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the Ministry of Information will organise the second edition of the Al Dana Drama Award in 2025.
His Highness emphasised that the award reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting artistic creativity and preserving national and regional identity, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Highness noted the Kingdom’s efforts to position itself as a leading regional hub for creativity and the arts.
His Highness underlined that the inaugural edition successfully achieved its objectives, establishing itself as one of the region’s foremost awards in the field of drama. The award serves as a platform to recognise excellence across all areas of drama production.
His Highness further noted that such awards promote healthy competition among artists, directors, writers, and production companies, motivating the creation of high quality works that combine professional execution with compelling content. This, His Highness added, contributes to elevating the regional drama industry to meet international standards, particularly amid ongoing technological advancements.
His Highness commended the Ministry of Information for its efforts in organising the award and lauded the contributions of young Bahraini talents, whose work reflects the ongoing development of the local arts scene.
Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for his patronage, describing it as a key driver for the award’s continuity, advancement, and growing engagement from creatives in Bahrain and beyond.
The minister highlighted the award’s mission to foster innovation in drama production and to attract participation from Bahraini and Gulf talents. He underlined the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring transparency, professionalism, and quality throughout all stages of the award, with the goal of enriching the regional drama landscape and further establishing Bahrain’s status as a leading centre for artistic and cultural production.
The 2025 edition of the Al Dana Drama Award will include ten categories: Best Social Series, Best Comedy Series, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Rising Star, Best Soundtrack, Best Script, Best Director, Best Child Actor, and Best Visual Effects. Three audience-voted categories will also be presented: Best Series, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
