Manama : The King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence is a significant royal initiative to advance peace, human solidarity, and dialogue among civilisations, religions, and cultures, said the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, welcomed the issuance of Order (32) of 2024 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the establishment of the award, which seeks to recognise efforts that promote peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity, and the rejection of extremism and hatred.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed expressed pride in the centre’s role in overseeing the award. He said the award was a product of Bahrain’s tradition of openness and its modern constitution, reinforcing the values of tolerance and religious freedom.
The award will be presented biennially to individuals and organisations with significant contributions to the civilisational dialogue. Recipients will be chosen by an independent international jury based on transparent and impartial criteria.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to global initiatives that support sustainable development, peace, and the empowerment of women and youth, under the leadership of HM the King.
