Manama : The Blood donation campaign was held on Monday, July 15th and 16th (8th and 9th of Muharram) at the newly opened ninth branch of Al Hilal Healthcare Group in Manama Central, witnessed a significant turnout of donors.
The event was graced by several prominent figures including Dr. Mohammed Abdul Majeed Al Awadhi, Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health; Dr. Sharath Chandran, CEO of Al Hilal Healthcare Group; His Excellency Mr. Yousif bin Saleh Al Saleh, President of Jaafari Endowments Directorate; Dr. Raja Al Yousif, Deputy CEO of Government Hospitals; Dr. Raja Ahmed Saleh Al Nuaimi, Deputy Chief Medical Services Officer; and Dr. Fadel Al Nashi, Head of the Supreme Committee of the Imam Hussain Campaign.
The organizing committee of the Imam Hussain (AS) Blood Donation Campaign announced that during its twenty-sixth year under the theme “Hussain’s Legacy,” 606 blood bags were collected on the eighth and ninth days of Muharram at the ninth branch of Al Hilal Healthcare Group – Manama Central. Day eight collection of 50 blood bags earmarked for women, while on the second day, coinciding with the ninth of Muharram and designated for men, 556 blood bags were collected. This adds to the campaign’s quarter-century legacy of giving, which totaled 15,871 blood bags until last year, now reaching 16,477 bags until this year.
Dr. Fadel Al Nashi, head of the organizing committee, expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Health’s support under the leadership of Dr. Jalila bint Said Jawad Hassan, and thanked Al Hilal Healthcare Group for hosting the campaign, highlighted the importance of community partnership.
Dr. Al Nashi emphasized that this remarkable response reflects the inherent generosity and spirit of giving among donors, especially during these days commemorating Ashura, embodying the noble values of sacrifice inspired by Imam Hussain (AS), involving diverse participants from various backgrounds and faiths. He added, “The cumulative donation total, combined with this year’s achievement, exceeds 16,000 blood bags, marking a new record in the history of this esteemed campaign, the first civil initiative for blood donation.”
