Seoul : North Korea announced on Thursday that it had test-fired a new air defence missile system and conducted a strike drill involving a long-range strategic cruise missile.
The air defence test was conducted under the supervision of officials from the Missile Administration to verify the system’s technical capabilities.
Separately, a firepower subunit of the long-range strategic cruise missile unit in the eastern region conducted a strike drill on the same day, launching a long-range strategic cruise missile towards a simulated airport target, according to the report.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it had detected multiple missiles launched by North Korea towards the East Sea from the Sondok area in South Hamgyong Province early on Wednesday.
