Florida : Hurricane Isaias weakened to Category 1 after making landfall near Destin, Florida, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported.
The hurricane was located approximately 105 kilometres west northwest of Panama City, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometres per hour. The NHC warned of dangerous storm surges and inland flooding.
Isaias is expected to move through Alabama and Tennessee over the weekend. Power outages affected 380,000 people in Florida and more than 210,000 in Alabama.
US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said emergency declarations had been approved for both states to provide federal resources for the response.
