Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain’s youth cycling team returned with a gold-medal achievement after successfully competing in the 2026 Arab Cycling Championships, held in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Republic, from October 2 to 13 under the supervision of the Arab Cycling Federation. The championships featured leading Arab cyclists from Bahrain, host nation Syria, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Lebanese Republic and the State of Libya.
Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Cycling Association, welcomed the team’s two gold medallists, Abdulaziz Al Hamri and Mohammed Hassan Jawad. Al Hamri won gold in the individual time trial, while Jawad won gold in the individual road race.
Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended the achievement, highlighting its significance for Bahraini youth in Arab cycling. He said it reflected the vision and initiative of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, to support youth through the Golden Generation League programme.
He added that the two gold medals reflected the effectiveness of the initiative and ongoing support programmes, expressing hope that the team would continue to achieve success in Gulf, Arab, regional and international competitions.
