Manama : The Bharathi Association, a registered body functioning under the guidance of the Ministry of Social Affairs, celebrated this year’s International Workers’ Day in a distinctive and meaningful manner, honouring the contributions of labourers across the Kingdom.
As part of the celebrations, members of the association dedicated the entire day to visiting labour camps, where they distributed lunch and dinner, and engaged workers in a series of entertainment activities. This initiative aimed to bring joy and recognition to those who play a vital role in the nation’s development.

May Day has been a significant annual event for the association, which has been commemorating the occasion for over three decades with great enthusiasm. This year’s programme, however, stood out for its innovative and inclusive approach.
In a special gesture, the association booked an entire theatre at Mukta Cinema in Juffair Mall, where a newly released Tamil film, “Kara”, starring Dhanush, was screened. Members of the association, along with their families, joined the labourers for the screening, fostering a sense of unity and shared celebration.

A cake-cutting ceremony was held to honour the dedication and hard work of labourers in building the infrastructure of the nation. The event also featured a lively quiz competition conducted by host RJ Rathi, with Sateesh serving as the radio jockey, adding vibrancy to the proceedings.
The welcome address was delivered by General Secretary Abdul Qaiyum, followed by the presidential address by President Vallam Basheer. The vote of thanks was proposed by Entertainment Secretary Mrs. Hansul Gani. Appreciation was given to all sponsors who contributed for food and prizes.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of numerous prizes, including essential household items and gift vouchers, bringing smiles to the faces of the workers and making the occasion truly memorable.
