Manama : Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, expressed his appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the order issued by HRH to increase financial support for low-income families through the cost-of-living allowance.
The minister said that the order reflects HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s keenness to implement the vision of His Majesty the King, which places citizens at the centre of development and prioritises their welfare and living standards.
Al Alawi noted that the increase will directly contribute to improving living conditions, raising monthly income levels for beneficiary groups, enhancing stability for low-income Bahraini families, and supporting their ability to adapt to financial policy measures, including the implementation of fuel price determination and monitoring mechanisms in the local market.
The minister added that the Ministry of Social Development will immediately begin implementing the order of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in accordance with approved mechanisms, starting from January, to ensure the delivery of support to eligible beneficiaries.
Al Alawi also highlighted Cabinet decisions aimed at improving financial conditions and ensuring the sustainability of citizen-focused support, including maintaining electricity and water tariffs for the first and second consumption bands for citizens’ primary residences, and postponing further development of electricity and water support mechanisms pending additional study. He noted that the ministry is working in coordination with relevant authorities on a mechanism to support composite households with regard to electricity and water services.
