Cluj-Napoca : Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA) and Vice President of the Asian Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), received the hosting flag for the Kingdom of Bahrain to stage the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Youth Championships next year. The handover took place at the conclusion of the ITTF World Youth Championships held in Romania, marking the start of the countdown to hosting the global event.
Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz emphasised that receiving the hosting flag represents a memorable moment and a key milestone in the federation’s journey. She said it reflects the confidence of the ITTF’s General Assembly in the Kingdom to host this major international sporting event, and underscores the strong relationship with the federation, particularly as it coincides with its centenary celebrations.

Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz also expressed confidence in Bahrain’s ability to successfully host the championship and present it in the best possible manner, in light of the continued support provided to sport by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), and his ongoing interest in strengthening Bahrain’s reputation in hosting major sporting events.
The BTTA previously held official meetings with the ITTF to discuss Bahrain’s preparations for hosting the championship. The federation’s delegation was headed by Shaikha Haya bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and included Ali Al Madeh, Vice President of the BTTA, and Jaffar Hadi, Secretary-General of the BTTA. The delegation reviewed technical and organisational arrangements and examined the experience of managing this major global sporting event.
