Manama : Bharathi Association, a registered association functioning under the Ministry of Social Affairs has geared up for their annual event Pongal.
Pongal is also referred to as Tamizhar thirunal (“the festival of Tamil people”) and is one of the major festivals celebrated by the Tamil people across various religions. It is observed by the Tamil diaspora in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and worldwide.
Preparations have begun in full swing for the Pongal festival scheduled to take place on January 16, 2026, Friday at the Indian club as a whole day event.
The release of the Appeal Form was held with great splendor at the Bharathi Tamil Sangam office on dec 13, 2025 . Mr. Badrudheen Abdul Majid, an entrepreneur from the Gulf, Guinness World Record holder, and the Chief Executive Officer of a prominent UIC company, came from Saudi Arabia as a special guest.
Over a hundred members and association enthusiasts gathered in large numbers to initiate the preparations for the Pongal festival. The Sangam office was adorned in festive decor. Plans are being made to celebrate the upcoming Thai Pongal festival in a grand manner. Cultural events featuring traditional dances from Tamil Nadu, kolam competitions, Pongal preparation, traditional games, sports competitions, a delicious Pongal feast with banana leaves.
Admission is completely free.More updates will be announced soon for the grand Musical and stand up comedy show that is planned during the evening once finalised.
Celebrity Cine playback singers are expected to entertain the audience which will also be entry free.
