Manama : Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the High Committee for the Care of People with Disabilities, emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to protecting the rights of individuals with determination (persons with disabilities) and supporting their active participation in all areas of life.
Minister Al Alawi highlighted the care and attention they receive under Bahrain’s comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed annually on December 3, and celebrated this year under the theme “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, the Social Development Minister highlighted the Kingdom’s focus on providing an environment that supports the rights, inclusion, independence and active participation of persons with disabilities. He noted that these efforts are guided by government policies and Bahrain’s vision to promote social justice and equality, in line with relevant international conventions.
He also noted that the Committee continues to implement the national strategy for persons with disabilities, coordinating initiatives with government bodies and civil society organisations to build an inclusive society that provides equal opportunities and enhances their role in all development paths.
