Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued Edict (74) of 2025, restructuring the National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, based on a proposal by the Minister of Health and following the approval of the Cabinet.
Article (I)
The National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, shall be restructured under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health, with the following members:
1. The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, at the Ministry of Health
2. The Director of Testing and Metrology, at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce
3. Director of Communication and Environmental Awareness, at the Executive Office of the
Supreme Council for the Environment
4. The Director of Human Resources, at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture
5. The Director of Customs Compliance and Risk Management at the Customs Affairs of the Ministry of Interior
6. The Director of Tax Policy, at the National Bureau for Revenue
7. The Director of the Media Office, at the National Communication Centre (NCC)
8. The Head of School Health Section at the Guidance and Knowledge Resources Directorate, at the Ministry of Education
9. The Head of Medical Services, at the Primary Health Care Centres
10. The President of the Anti-Smoking Society
The Head of the Tobacco and Smoking Control Group of the Public Health Directorate at the Ministry of Health, shall serve as the rapporteur of the committee.
Membership in the committee shall be for a term of three years, renewable.
Article (II)
The committee may consult with experts and specialists it deems appropriate for advice on specific matters; however, such consultants shall have no voting rights in the committee’s decisions.
Article (III)
Edict (40) of 2022, which restructured the National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, shall be repealed.
Article (IV)
The Minister of Health and the relevant authorities, each within their respective mandates, shall implement the provisions of this edict, which shall take effect the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
