Seoul : South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the travel warning level for several border areas in Thailand and Cambodia following recent armed clashes between the two Southeast Asian nations.
A special travel advisory was issued effective from Friday noon for Thailand’s Surin, Buriram, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, as well as Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces. The advisory urges South Korean nationals to avoid travelling to or leaving these regions. It will remain in effect for 90 days, with the possibility of extension.
Additionally, a Level 2 travel alert, which advises against all non-essential travel, was issued for three neighbouring Thai provinces and five additional Cambodian regions.
