Vatican : The Vatican announced that His Holiness Pope Francis’ health remains critical as he suffers from double pneumonia and the onset of kidney failure. However, he remains alert.
HH the Pope was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 in his longest hospital stay since the start of his papacy 12 years ago.
A Vatican official, who did not wish to be named, said that the pope was eating normally and able to get up and move around his hospital room.
On Sunday, the Vatican described the pope’s condition as critical for the second consecutive day. It stated that blood tests had shown an “initial, slight insufficiency” in kidney function.
A further update on his condition is expected later on Monday evening.
