Manama ; Bahrain is set to host the first ever World Para Taekwondo, Poomsae Championship 2024, alongside the Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open 2024. The events will take place from November 26 to 27 and November 29.
Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BOC), stated that organising these championships aligns with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs. He highlighted that this event reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing Paralympic sports.
Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij emphasised the strong support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for these sports, which underscores the government’s dedication to providing an inclusive sporting environment for all. He added that this support extends beyond hosting events, encompassing the development of sports infrastructure and specialised training for athletes with determination.
He also expressed gratitude for the significant support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of BOC, for Para sports, which has enabled Bahrain to organise numerous championships across various disciplines, establishing the Kingdom as a hub for sporting excellence. Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij noted that His Highness’s vision has enhanced Bahrain’s standing on the international sporting stage.
The championships, Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij said, embody Bahrain’s vision of promoting inclusivity in sports by providing opportunities for athletes of determination to achieve their goals and showcase their talents globally. He added that these events serve not only as competitions but also as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of Paralympic sports in fostering social inclusion.
