Manama : Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) held its first charity marathon, Diabetes Day Race in recognition of World Diabetes Day. The event brought together 1,000 participants, aiming to support the provision of insulin pumps for children with Type 1 diabetes. Since 2019, the initiative has benefited 265 children through partnerships with various entities.
The marathon included races for children, adults, and individuals with special needs, alongside healthy meals provided by restaurants and awareness sessions on insulin pumps by King Hamad University Hospital, Al Hilal Hospital, and Pure Life Medical Equipment company.
Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, RHF Secretary-General, honoured the winners and contributors, including Shaikh Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Bahrain Runners Committee; Foulath Holding, the main sponsor; Bapco Energies, the gold sponsor; Water Garden City, the hosting entity; Dr. Maryam Al Hajri, Vice President of the Bahrain Diabetes Society; and Dr. Dalal Al Romaihi, Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at King Hamad University Hospital.
