Tokyo : Heavy rain on Thursday and Friday killed eight people in eastern Japan.
The Japan Meteorological Agency had issued the highest warning for heavy rain (Level 5) in more than one-third of the municipalities in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo.
The cities of Chiba and Ichikawa, along with other towns, began urging citizens to take immediate safety measures, as widespread flooding occurred on public roads.
The Japan Meteorological Agency also issued a Level 5 landslide warning for several municipalities in the prefecture, including Chiba and neighbouring Ichihara, before all the warnings were downgraded this morning.
