Damascus : Thirty-five people were killed and 30 others injured in a collision between two passenger buses on the Damascus-Deir Ezzor Road in Syria, prompting the Health and Defence ministries to mobilise emergency teams and designated hospitals to respond to the incident.
The Ministry of Health said the emergency response system had been placed on maximum alert, with the injured transferred to hospitals in Homs and Deir Ezzor and the necessary medical teams deployed. The ministry added that the casualty figures are preliminary and may change as further information becomes available.
The Syrian Interior Minister extended condolences to the families of the victims, while the Ministry of Higher Education announced that university hospitals across all governorates had been placed on high alert to receive the injured.
