Manama : Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the 2025 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) Championship will kick off on Friday, April 18, at The Avenues Bahrain.
The championship will feature two main categories: Bahrain’s Strongest Man and the GCC’s Strongest Man, with participants competing in seven events: Carry & Load, XL Bar Deadlift, Viking Press, Wheel of Pain, Arm over Arm Pull, Hercules Hold, and Power Stairs.
Weigh-ins for competitors were held on Thursday, April 17, alongside a technical meeting to outline the rules and regulations.
The WSM Championship is one of Bahrain’s leading annual sports events dedicated to strength and endurance. It was launched in 2017 under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa as a national competition aimed at encouraging Bahraini youth. It has since evolved to include participants from across the GCC, consolidating Bahrain’s stance as a regional sports hub.
Now in its eighth edition, the championship is held annually under the slogan “Khallak Wahsh” (Beast Mode). Previous editions have taken place at key venues such as Bahrain Bay and The Avenues Bahrain and have included a wide range of strength competitions such as log lifting and vehicle pulling.
The championship aims to promote competitiveness and attract broader participation from local and regional athletes. With growing public interest in strength sports, the event continues to draw significant engagement from fans across the Kingdom and the Gulf region.
