Manama : The Youth Affairs Ministry seeks, through its various programmes, including the Youth City 2030, to empower Bahraini youth and provide them with the necessary skills in order to be leaders in the labour market, Minister Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi said.
While visiting the Youth City 2030, held at Exhibition World Bahrain in Zallaq, in collaboration with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Tawfiqi asserted that the Youth Affairs Ministry is committed to its role in preparing Bahraini youngsters to be successful in the future, by launching programmes that meet youth requirements and needs.
“At the Ministry of Youth Affairs, we are keen to translate the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, in achieving integration among various ministries, government agencies and the private sector, with the aim of empowering Bahraini youth and paving the way for them in light of the fast-changing Bahraini labour market. This represents the main challenge in providing young men and women with quality skills that are compatible with the labour market’s changes. This is why the Youth City 2030 is offering more than 100 programmes and 2,740 training opportunities,” the minister said.
The minister toured Youth City 2030’s five main public centres, namely leadership and young entrepreneurship, media and entertainment, arts and culture, science and technology, in addition to sports and culture.
Tawfiqi was briefed on the five centres’ programmes, aimed at providing diverse and rewarding opportunities to train Bahraini youngsters, hone their skills, build their competencies and tap into their creative potential. Each centre will offer participants a variety of programmes that focus on technical, practical and creative aspects, and will be presented by qualified trainers.
The ministry has lined up morning programmes for participants aged 9 to 14, and evening ones for those aged between 15 and 35.
