Manama : The Regional Centre of Excellence for Capacity Building of Combating Trafficking in Persons , under the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), held a specialised training workshop for its inspection sector employees.
The workshop, held to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, aimed to enhance the skills and capabilities of inspectors to identify and assist potential victims among migrant workers.
Nineteen front-line inspectors participated in the training session, conducted at the LMRA headquarters. These inspectors are likely to encounter actual or potential victims during their inspections and campaigns. The workshop was led by certified trainers from the Regional Centre and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), including trainers Wadea’a Al Sayed and Ali Al Saeed.
This workshop is one of the essential initiatives organised by the centre, specifically targeting inspectors to aid in the fight against human trafficking. It supports the foundational efforts to curb various forms of trafficking. It is part of an ongoing series of training sessions and events for the inspection sector, highlighting its critical role in identifying trafficking cases.
The Regional Centre, recognised as the first regional centre of expertise and training in combating human trafficking, provides a foundation of certified trainers who are practitioners and front-line workers in this field. It offers curricula that address victim psychology and appropriate intervention methods. Additionally, the Centre works on building the capacities of targeted groups across six sectors, in collaboration with experts and practitioners, to effectively handle trafficking victims or potential victims.
