Washington : The US Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary following a 50-50 tie vote, which was decided by Vice President J.D. Vance, who cast the tie-breaking vote in favour of Hegseth.
The confirmation marks a victory for President Donald Trump after Hegseth’s nomination faced strong opposition from Democrats and some Republicans.
