Gehlot, who was in Delhi, told the mediapersons that Sharma was being harassed without any reason in the phone tapping case. “What is his fault?” the Rajasthan CM questioned.
“Lokesh Sharma said that the Union Minister is involved in the conspiracy to topple the government, the voice in the recording is his. You (referring the ruling BJP in the Centre) are unnecessarily harassing Lokesh Sharma. You could not topple the government. This is a pain for you… you are using your influence to file false cases. In the end, truth will prevail,” he said.
Meanwhile, after his questioning on Tuesday, Sharma also claimed that the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has been harassing him unnecessarily.
He said that the Crime Branch has given notice for the 9th time and, called him again for questioning on Wednesday.
“Today, during the 4-hour questioning, the same questions were repeated as usual which I had answered previously. I am being called without any reason,” he said.
The matter is related to the political crisis that rocked the political arena of Rajasthan in the year 2020.
Lokesh Sharma then released an audio clip to the media.
In the audio clip, there was a conversation between a person named ‘Gajendra Singh’, an MLA and a broker to topple the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government.
Soon after that, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat filed a complaint with the Delhi Police, saying the phone calls of public representatives are being tapped to tarnish their image.
On March 25, 2021, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police had registered a case against OSD Lokesh Sharma.
After that, Lokesh Sharma filed a petition in the Delhi High Court.
During a hearing in the matter, the Delhi High Court stayed the arrest of Lokesh Sharma — which remains intact even today.
