Manama : Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, held a ceremony honouring the winners of the 29th edition of Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize at the Isa Cultural Centre.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Director General of the Office of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim, attended the event and presented certificates and prizes to 87 female winners. Awards were also presented for the eldest and youngest participants, the Dawood’s Flute prize, and the best Quran centre prize. Eight supporting organisations and 15 female members of the judging panels were also honoured.
This year’s competition included 4,242 participants, 1,598 male and 2,644 female, across several categories: The Holy Quran memorization for students of Quranic centres, Bayan Prize for school students, Ajran Prize for people with special needs, Ghufran Prize for inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre, Ridhwan Prize for the general public, Salman Al Farsi Prize for non-Arabic speakers recitation, and recitation and good performance. Individual prizes included the eldest and youngest contestant prize, the Dawood’s Flute prize, and the best Quran centre prize.
The Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize, launched in 1996 during the reign of the late His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, is one of the Kingdom’s leading religious competitions. It aims to promote memorisation and proper recitation of the Quran and enhance educational and spiritual engagement with Islamic teachings. The competition is organised in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Social Development, and Ministry of Education.
