Istanbul : A fire at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort in northwest Turkey killed 66 people and injured 51 others, according to preliminary figures.
The governor of Bolu, Abdulaziz Aydin, said that the fire broke out on the fourth floor of the 11-storey hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort at around 12:30 am (0030 GMT) on Tuesday.
The Grand Kartal Hotel, where the fire erupted, is located at the summit of the mountain. The fire, believed to have started in the restaurant, quickly spread throughout the hotel around midnight.
Local media reported that the hotel was hosting 234 guests, with occupancy rates ranging between 80% and 90%.
