Manama: The Indian School celebrated the 76th Republic Day of India with a grand flag-hoisting ceremony and the distribution of awards to meritorious students.
The event took place at the school’s Isa Town campus, where students, teachers and parents from both campuses gathered to commemorate the occasion.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by Hon. Vice-Chairman and Hon. Member of HSSE and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Faizal. His presidential address emphasized the importance of upholding the values enshrined in India’s Constitution. The ceremony was attended by Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Assistant Secretary & Hon. Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Hon. Member-Finance & IT Bonny Joseph, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier, Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G. Satheesh, Middle Section Vice-Principal Jose Thomas, Junior Wing Vice-Principal Priya Laji and Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas.The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by a national salute, which set a patriotic tone for the day.
The school’s band performed a stirring patriotic song, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Earlier, the school band and members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides had led the dignitaries to the flag-hoisting venue.
Patriotic songs and dances were performed by students from both campuses. The ceremony began with the National Anthem, school prayer, and a recitation from the Holy Quran. The Gulf Sahodaya awards were presented to outstanding achievers in the CBSE exams.
The recipients included Ann Reji John (Humanities), Haifa Mohammed Shiraz (Science), Sriprahlad Mukunthan (Science), Syed Aseela Maheen (Commerce), and Adithyan Vyatt Nair. The school also honoured badminton players who participated in the International School Sports Federation Games hosted by the Bahrain General Sports Authority.
These athletes, Sreeananthapadmanabhan Sudheeran (9S), Alen Eapen Thomas (9B), and Sreepadmini Sudheeran (11N), were felicitated for their achievements.
Muhammed Basil Abdul Hakkim (11Q), who was selected for the Bahrain Men’s National Cricket Team, along with Poorvaja Jagadeesha Babu (12R) and Jhaancy Taluru Matadha (11R), both selected for the Bahrain Women’s National Cricket Team, were also recognized.
Additionally, 25 Scouts and Guides students were awarded certificates for excellence, while 15 band students received appreciation certificates. Johan Johnson Titus (11R), who designed the ISB Platinum Jubilee logo, was specially honoured during the event.
The programme featured speeches by Middle Section Vice-Principal Jose Thomas and student Rica Mary Roy (9J). ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Executive Committee Members, Principal VR Palaniswamy.
Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students who received certificates of excellence during the ceremony.
