Manama : The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced its support for the employment and career development of around 90 Bahraini employees at WestPoint Home, a leading textile manufacturing company, through its employment and career development support programmes.
Tamkeen’s support for WestPoint Home is aligned with its strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitisation, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labour market and private sector.
As a cornerstone of Bahrain’s non-oil economy, the Manufacturing Sector significantly contributes to economic growth. In 2024, it ranked as the second-largest contributor to GDP after the Financial and Insurance sector, accounting for 15.1% of total output.
Khalid Al Bayat, Chief Growth Officer at Tamkeen, said Tamkeen is committed to helping Bahraini businesses like WestPoint Home grow, expand their operations, and create jobs. He noted that Tamkeen’s support since 2017 has helped develop the company’s capabilities and provided more opportunities for Bahraini talent. Al Bayat also emphasised that investing in local workforce development strengthens the private sector and supports Bahrain’s broader economic progress, to make Bahraini nationals the preferred choice in the labour market.
Aziz Ahmed, Human Resources Manager at WestPoint Home, said the company’s partnership with Tamkeen since 2017 has played a key role in its growth. He explained that this collaboration has helped build a strong team of Bahraini talent by creating jobs and leadership opportunities. Ahmed added that WestPoint Home remains committed to hiring Bahraini professionals, supporting their career development, and maintaining a positive, motivating work environment to boost productivity and job stability.
Founded in 2006, WestPoint Home is a global leader in textile manufacturing, established through its acquisition of Manama Textile. The company utilises advanced machinery and technology for spinning, weaving, finishing, processing and delivering a comprehensive range of high-quality home textile services. It is widely recognised for operating a state-of-the-art dyeing and printing facility, known for its exceptional fabric dyeing capabilities.
Tamkeen has introduced various programmes designed to support employment and career development for Bahraini professionals, ensuring they remain the first choice of employment in the labour market.
