Manama : The Ministry of Sustainable Development held a workshop, in coordination with the UN Resident Coordinator Office and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The workshop discussed mechanisms for calculating indicators of sustainable development goals related to the third goal, which focuses on good health and well-being.
The workshop comes as a part of the ministry’s plan to update data related to sustainable development goals and develop national statistical capacity in a way that reflects Bahrain’s commitment towards implementing the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The workshop came as part of a series of workshops scheduled to be held for all the 17th sustainable development goals, with the aim of strengthening mechanisms for monitoring, analysing, exchanging data and information and developing national statistical capacity to ensure that data related to the sustainable development goals is collected and monitored periodically and accurately.
The workshop highlighted indicators related to the third goal of sustainable development and explained the methodology used to calculate the indicators. Other also included discussions with the concerned authorities about the availability of data and ways to obtain it.
Participants in the workshop included a number of statisticians and specialists from the Ministry of Health and the Information and e-Government Authority.
WHO representatives commended Bahrain’s commitment to monitoring the progress made towards the Sustainable Development Goals and providing related indicators to decision-makers and international agencies of concern, in a way that contributes to supporting their implementation.
