Manama : His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman, has commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President.

HH Shaikh Nasser also lauded the recent achievements of the Manama and Al-Najma clubs, which clinched the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) and the 25th Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship, respectively.
HH Shaikh Nasser made the statements while chairing the first meeting of the SCYS following its restructuring as a per a Royal Decree.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad and SCYS members attended the meeting.

HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated the new members on the precious royal trust bestowed upon them, wishing them every success in carrying out their duties.
He also paid tribute to the outgoing SCYS members for the tremendous efforts they had exerted to develop the youth and sports sector in Bahrain.
HH Shaikh Nasser also endorsed the National Strategy for Youth Empowerment, aimed at enhancing Bahraini youth’s role through a number of projects that hone their skills.

He also praised the new “Masari” (My Path) project, which aims to refine the capabilities and skills of youth and develop their talent through a series of initiatives and programmes across various fields.
The SCYS discussed the main projects currently implemented by the Ministry of Youth, including the Youth City 2030.
The SCYS members also discussed the latest developments of the fifth edition of the King Hamad Award Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), whose cycle ends in November 2024.
The panel also adopted a plan to make the King Hamad Award Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve the SDGs as an international prize during the next two years.
The panel was also informed about the proposal of the General Sports Authority to make sports as an industry to increase cooperation with the private sector and boost sports tourism.
The SCYS also discussed “Aspirations” programme, which was announced last week based on the directives of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad.
The programme aims to develop Bahraini sports, under which various pioneering initiatives will be launched.
