Manama : The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) held its 33rd regular meeting of the fifth term today, chaired by Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Council.
The Council commended the order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa designating this year as the “Year of Isa Al Kabeer,” in tribute to the founder of the modern Bahraini state. The Council highlighted the historical legacy of Isa Al Kabeer in establishing stability and building legal and civil institutions, noting that Bahrain’s current progress is a continuation of this enduring legacy under the Kingdom’s leadership.
On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the National Guard, the Council extended its congratulations to His Majesty the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, commending the National Guard’s role, alongside other security and military bodies, in maintaining security and stability.
The Council reviewed several agenda items, including the conclusion of the eighth edition of the Tafsir Councils programme held at the Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Centre, with the participation of more than 268 attendees, and the General Secretariat’s participation in the Second International Symposium of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide in Cairo.
It also reviewed the results of the third edition of the ‘Mutun’ competition organised by the Holy Quran Recitation and Teachers Preparation Institute affiliated with the Council, commending the winners and the organising bodies, and discussed preparations for the closing ceremony.
In addition, the Council reviewed a report on the progress of mosque construction projects supervised by the Council, including initiatives supported by donors, and concluded the meeting by addressing incoming correspondence and requests.
