Riyadh : His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, attended the signing of the agreement to implement the high-speed electric railway project between the two countries, on the sidelines of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.
The agreement was signed by Saleh Al Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services of Saudi Arabia, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Transport of Qatar, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The launch of the high-speed railway project represents a strategic step that supports cooperation between the two countries and advances joint development integration projects, contributing to consolidating sustainable development and opening broad prospects for greater prosperity in the region.
The railway extends 785 kilometres, linking Riyadh and Doha through key stations in Hofuf and Dammam, with direct connections to King Salman International Airport and Hamad International Airport. It will provide an advanced means of transport that improves travel experience and facilitates movement between the two capitals at speeds exceeding 300 kilometres per hour, reducing the journey time to around two hours.
