Manama : The Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committee of the Council of Representatives commended the Royal Decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, pardoning 457 individuals. The pardon coincides with the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s accession.
The committee noted that the Royal Pardon strengthens national unity, reinforces social cohesion, and supports the stability of society. It also brings joy to citizens, particularly the families of those released, reflecting His Majesty’s close bond with his people and his commitment to national interests.
The committee highlighted that His Majesty’s ongoing gestures of tolerance have enhanced Bahrain’s human rights reputation regionally and internationally, promoting human rights and fostering a secure society. These efforts support Bahrain’s continued democratic and developmental progress under His Majesty’s leadership.
The committee commended the government’s initiatives, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, to strengthen Bahrain’s human rights framework. It also acknowledged efforts aimed at rehabilitating convicts and advancing legislative reforms in cooperation with the National Assembly.
The committee also acknowledged the Ministry of Interior’s role, under the leadership of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, in implementing rehabilitation programmes, such as the open prisons initiative, which promotes social reintegration, strengthens community security, and fosters national unity.
