Manama : In the presence of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) High Committee, and His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Environment, REHC High Committee Deputy Chairman and SCYS member, the REHC today hosted the second round of the Bahrain Turf Series at its racecourse in Raffa, Sakhir.
HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in addition to their highnesses, representatives of sponsors and equestrian sport enthusiasts also attended the races of the second round of the Bahrain Turf Series.

The organisation of the third edition of the Bahrain Turf Series is the outcome of the outstanding success of the two previous editions and that of the Bahrain International Trophy, in which top-seed horses and renowned international jockeys, owners and trainers participated.
The third race of the Bahrain Turf Series, in which 18 horses participated, was held over the Al Riffa Cup.
Victorious Stable’s horse “Rocket Rodney”, trained by George Scott, and ridden by Callum Shepherd, clinched the first place. Meanwhile, horses Brazen Bolt, Anthem National and Buffer Zone (from Bahrain) won the second, third and fourth places, respectively.
The fourth race of the Bahrain Turf Series, in which 16 horses participated, was held over the Al Dana Cup.
British horse “Lucander”, owned by Nigel Jones and Paul Bowden, and ridden by Patrick Cosgrave, won the first place.
Bahraini horse “Isle of Jura”, owned by Victorious Stable, clinched the second place, while “Box to Box” came third.
Bahraini horse “Glen Savage”, owned by M and E Racing, was fourth.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, Team Victorious Captain, was presented with the Al Riffa Cup by HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The trophy of the Al Dana Cup for the fourth round was presented to owner Paul Bowden. In addition, prizes were also presented to the winning trainer and jockey of the fourth round.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was presented with the trophy of the eighth round from the owner of Humphrey Butler Fine Jewellery following the success of “Byline”, from the Al Adiyat Racing, in winning the eighth round.
HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa presented the trophy of the Owners’ Cup to winning owner, HH Shaikh Sultan El Dine bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Mahmood Ghalib Al Mahmood, Executive Manager, Head of Corporate and SME Banking at Kuwait Finance House, crowned HH Shaikh Sultan El Dine bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa, the winning owner of the seventh round.
Colin Rayner, coach at the REHC’s Bahrain Jockey Academy, presented the trophy of the second round to trainer Haider Ebrahim.
Running from December through to February, the Bahrain Turf Series provides opportunities for internationally trained runners (rated 85-100) to compete against local Bahrain-based horses across ten races.
Launched in 2021-22, this season is the third edition of the ten-race Bahrain Turf Series. The series runs alongside the domestic programme in Bahrain with international horses competing in the series also eligible to run in other Bahrain Turf Club races open to imported horses.
