The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in collaboration with the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19), yesterday launched the “BeAware Bahrain” application.
The application complements efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by advancing contact tracing efforts to swiftly identify and keep track of all active cases and their contacts.
Chief Executive of Information & eGovernment Authority’s Mohammed Ali AlQaed revealed that statistics show over 60,000 users to have used the application. The App is the National platform for all the information related to the virus, instructions, guidelines and additional new features including government resolutions.
The ‘Be Aware’ App was tested and put on a pilot trial for eight days where hundreds of users proved its success thereby launching the application officially.
“I encourage all citizens and residents to use the app because it would support the National efforts in combating coronavirus. The app is not limited to home quarantined people but for everyone. An alert would be sent if anyone is close to a suspected person. This enables us to go back, check the data and inform them thereby containing the virus” said Chief Executive of Information & eGovernment Authority’s Mohammed Ali AlQaed.
Over the following weeks, all government services will be transferred into e-services which would also be implemented by the various Ministries in Bahrain. He further highlighted that the IGA would support the necessary national efforts.
