Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan announced the launch of an online service on Social Insurance Organization (SIO)’s portal, to allow employers to register, to take advantage of the government’s guarantee to pay the salaries of Bahraini employees in the private sector who number approximately 100,000 employees registered with SIO, for the months of April, May, and June.
The minister affirmed that this step came within the framework of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the government headed by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to provide the necessary liquidity to the private sector to deal with the effects of the current conditions preserving private sector growth and enhancing its vital role in supporting the national economy.
Minister Humaidan pointed out that the payment of salaries will be made according to what is registered with SIO until the end of February.
He noted that these salaries will be paid through savings from the unemployment insurance fund, as it costs BD 215 million to cover the months of April, May and June 2020, At a monthly rate in excess of BD70 million.
