Manama : New Horizon School (NHS) hosted its highly anticipated Annual Sports Meet titled ‘Arena of Champions’ on February 8, 2025, at Ahli Club in Zinj This year’s theme, “Strength in Unity, Power in Motion,” reflected the school’s commitment to fostering teamwork, resilience, and a passion for sports. The grand sporting spectacle brought together students, parents, and educators in a celebration of athletic excellence and community spirit.

The school’s Principal, Mrs. Vandana Sateesh delivered a warm welcome address, after which students participated in an impressive March-in parade, demonstrating discipline and unity.
In keeping with Olympic traditions, the ceremonial lighting of the torch and oath-taking ceremony added gravitas to the proceedings. The chief guest, a member of the elite 9th regiment of the Para Commandos, Indian Army Special Forces, Retd. Major Prince Jose delivered an inspiring inaugural address, while the Chairman’s keynote speech officially declared the Sports Meet open.

The day’s competitive events were thoughtfully structured to include participants of all age groups. The youngest athletes from Junior KG, Senior KG, and Grade 1 showcased their budding talents in mesmerizing drill displays along with a spectacular display by senior students. Traditional sports like running, sack races, etc. were conducted exhibiting both athleticism and enthusiasm. The prize distribution ceremony honoured their efforts and achievements.

A unique highlight of the event was the involvement of parents, who participated in exciting activities such as the Tug of War and Ball Balancing, emphasizing NHS’s commitment to family engagement in student activities. The ‘Thin it to Win it’ programme’s recognition ceremony added an innovative dimension to the traditional sports meet format.

The day culminated in a grand ‘Awards Gala’, celebrating achievements across all categories, followed by the announcement of the final scores, declaring the Ruby House as the champions for the academic year 2024-25.

In line with Bahrain Sports Day, NHS highlighted Bahrain’s national vision for health and fitness, reaffirming its role in shaping physically active and health-conscious individuals. The enthusiastic participation from the entire school community marked another successful chapter in NHS’s sporting legacy, making ‘Arena of Champions’ not just a competition but a festival of sports and wellness.
