Manama : The Ministry of Labour announced the end of the implementation period for Ministerial Decision (3) of 2013, amended by Decision (11) of 2025, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12 pm to 4 pm. This year, the ban was enforced from June 15 to September 15, 2025.
Yousif bin Abdulhussein Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, said the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to advancing safe and healthy work practices by updating labour legislation in line with international standards. He noted the extension of the midday work ban from two to three months this year to better protect workers from extreme heat and high humidity.
Minister Khalaf highlighted that the ministry conducted intensive inspection campaigns, with 35,050 visits made to check compliance. Only 10 establishments were found violating the ban, involving 18 workers. Overall compliance reached 99.97%.
He commended employers for their cooperation in applying the decision, emphasising its humanitarian aspect to ensure a safe work environment and protect workers from heat stress, heatstroke, and other summer-related illnesses.
Alongside enforcement, the ministry ran awareness campaigns and workshops with health and safety officials from private sector establishments to educate workers on precautions against heat-related risks. The ministry also established a hotline to receive reports or complaints about any violations during the ban period.
