Manama : General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) at the Interior Ministry, on the occasion of Bahrain’s ePassport winning the Global award “Best New Passport of 2024” in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) as part of the HSP (High-Security Print) Awards.
The minister expressed his pride in this international recognition, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the NPRA development initiatives launched by the Cabinet as part of the economic recovery plan.
He noted that the accomplishment reflects the distinguished capabilities, quality performance, and modern and technological technology of e-passports in terms of design and security specifications.
The e-passport, launched by the Interior Minister in March 2023, features Bahrain’s Arabism, such as the galloping Arabian horse and a falcon. It is distinguished by its special style, which tells stories from Bahrain’s history as a centre for the pearl trade.
