Manama : General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, attended the Maan (Together) Programme Against Violence and Addiction.
Ministers and senior officials were present at the event.
The minister highlighted the distinguished results of the programme in contributing to social stability. He notded that the increase of the numbers of benefiting schools and students; updating school curricula to spread more awareness on peaceful coexistence, cybersecurity and countering extremism reflect the ability of the programme to stay apace with social and security dynamics.
The minister honoured members of the National Anti-Drug Committee, representatives of organisations contributing to the programme, and police officers that taught the programme’s curricula in schools.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and Head of Maan (Together), praised the support of the minister and contributions to boost awareness on security and social responsibility.
He said the programme contributed to towards raising the importance of safety and security within the community, adding that Maan; which is aligned with the objectives of National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism (Bahrainouna).
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman highlighted that the program covers currently 196 schools out of 211, benefiting more than 136,000 students. This contributed to a decrease in misbehavior in schools by 56%.
