Manama : The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has called on banks and institutions across the public and private sectors to download the updated card reader software, now available via Bahrain’s National Portal, bahrain.bh.
The software enables healthcare, education, banking, and telecommunications institutions, among others, to seamlessly read data from both the newly revamped ID cards and previous versions, ensuring efficient processing of transactions requiring citizen and resident data access.
Entities seeking further information or inquiries about the updated card reader software can submit their queries through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul) or via the Tawasul app.
The revamped ID card features enhanced security measures and expanded digital transaction capabilities. Bahrain is the first Gulf country to activate a travel application within the ID card’s chip, in coordination with Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs. Additionally, the card is made from durable polycarbonate material, resistant to scratches, heat, and environmental factors, with data engraved using laser technology to further enhance security.
