Manama : The Indian Community Relief Fund (“ICRF”) Thirst-Quenchers 2024 team concluded its annual summer awareness program on Saturday, 14 September 2024. The basic purpose of this program is to create awareness towards a healthy and safe summer 2024.
This is the 11th week and we distributed bottled water, laban, apple, orange, banana, biscuits and samosas to around 375 workers at a worksite located in Zallaq.
Sri Raman Gupta, Attache Consular at the Indian Embassy, Sri Vikas Gupta, officer at the Indian Embassy and Mr Hussain Al Hussaini – Senior Occupational Safety Engineer at the Ministry of Labour were present during the campaign day .
Sri Raman Gupta addressed the workers and inaugurated the event. ICRF Advisor Dr Babu Ramachandran and Mr Hussain Al Hussaini spoke about the importance of safety precautions to be taken during the summer months. Hussain Al Hussaini reminded that the Ministry of Labour has announced a 3 months work ban starting 15 June from next year.
This is the 9th year the ICRF Thirst Quenchers team conducting Summer Awareness Campaign. We started this program in 2016 and every year we organise this weekly event during the summer months (July – September). We distribute bottled water, fruit and flyers for general awareness in various worksites as they are one of the most affected toiling under the summer heat. We would have reached over 18,500 workers through this program during the last 8 years.
This year we conducted 11 such weekly programs including today’s event and reached out to more than 2700 workers.
ICRF Advisor Dr Babu Ramachandran, Vice Chairman Pankaj Nallur, General Secretary Aneesh Sreedharan, Treasurer Uday Shanbagh, Joint Secretary Suresh Babu, Thirst Quenchers 2024 coordinators Rajeevan, Faizal Madappally, Sivakumar, ICRF members Muralikrishnan, Kalpana Patil, Deepshika, Anu Jose, Ruchi Chakravarthy along with representatives from International Organisation for Migration (IOM) , Bahrain Chapter of Institute Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) and Bohra Community as well as few students from various institutes have attended the program.
