Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today participated remotely in a meeting with several leaders and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab and European Union countries to discuss regional developments in light of the hostile Iranian aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain and several allied countries.
The following address was made by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister:
Your Majesty, Your Highnesses and Excellencies,
I would like to extend my greetings during the final ten days of the holy month of Ramadan and to thank the European Union for convening this timely meeting.
We meet at a defining moment for our region and the world. The statements issued by the Gulf Cooperation Council, the GCC–EU Ministerial Meeting, and the Emergency Meeting of the Arab League reflect a clear and unified position condemning the unlawful attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against our nations.
The Kingdom of Bahrain, along with brotherly GCC countries and the Kingdom of Jordan and many others, have faced unprecedented missile and drone attacks.
These strikes have targeted residential areas, civilian infrastructure, energy facilities, and water desalination plants.
Such attacks are blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and have led to the loss of life and injuries among civilians while threatening regional and global stability. There is no justification and we condemn them in the strongest possible way.
Bahrain has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the path to lasting stability. But let us be clear: diplomacy cannot succeed under the shadow of missiles and drones. No state can accept attacks on its territory or threats to its people.
Moreover, the international community needs to act decisively to ensure the protection of international maritime traffic and the flow of goods through the Straits of Hormuz. We call on the European Union and the United Nations Security Council to act with urgency and resolve.
Failure to do so will lead to further aggression and undermining international peace and security. I would like to add our support to the Government of Lebanon and Syria as so eloquently said by King Abdulla and President Al Sisi.
The Kingdom of Bahrain does reserve the right to exercise its legitimate right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens, in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations.
The international community must send a clear message, and we look forward to continued close cooperation with our partners present today and with the European Union and the wider world.
