Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued Edict (60) of 2024 amending certain provisions of Edict (19) of 2018 regarding the establishment of the Coordination and Follow-up Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and United Nations Agencies. The amendments, proposed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and approved by the Cabinet, are as follows:
Article (I)
Article (I) of Edict (19) of 2018 is replaced with the following text:
A committee named the ‘Coordination and Follow-up Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and United Nations Agencies’ shall be established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referred to as ‘the Committee’ in this Edict. It shall be chaired by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the following members:
1. The Coordinator at the Prime Minister’s Office.
2. The Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. The Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
4. The Director of International Relations at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.
Article (II)
Two new clauses, (6) and (7), are added to Article (III) of Edict (19) of 2018, with subsequent clauses renumbered accordingly. The new clauses read as follows:
6. Monitor all matters related to the offices and centres of United Nations agencies based in Bahrain or covering Bahrain regionally and evaluate their work.
7. Oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic partnership and sustainable development frameworks signed between Bahrain and the United Nations.
Article (III)
The Minister of Foreign Affairs shall implement the provisions of this edict, which takes effect from the date of its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
