Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, deputised Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), to inaugurate the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre.
The ceremony was attended by Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works; Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health; Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD); and senior medical officials.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah commended the SFD’s continued support for development projects and highlighted the centre as a symbol of strong Bahraini-Saudi ties. He also commended the Ministry of Works for delivering the project to high engineering standards and advancing Bahrain’s healthcare infrastructure.
The Works Minister noted the project’s role in providing advanced medical and rehabilitative care, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to delivering modern healthcare environments. He also underscored the value of collaboration with government hospitals and the SFD in achieving national health goals.
The Health Minister highlighted the new centre as a strategic addition to Bahrain’s health system, supporting specialised care and sustainable health development.
The SFD CEO underscored the fund’s 48-year partnership with Bahrain, noting the centre was funded by a Saudi grant and represents a model for quality care and development cooperation.
Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals, said the project advances care for patients requiring long-term and specialised services, aligning with efforts to improve quality of life through integrated care.
The centre includes 106 beds, five medical wards, a pharmacy, a lab, an imaging unit, and rehabilitation facilities, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and occupational therapy, offering comprehensive services for patients with complex conditions.
