Manama : Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, extended her gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following the royal directive to expedite housing projects by providing 50,000 new housing units and enhancing public services.
The minister emphasised that the royal directive reflects His Majesty’s commitment to social housing, which has supported government efforts to provide thousands of housing services over the years. This includes the construction of projects in residential communities, expanded partnerships with the private sector, and the diversification of immediate and accessible financing options.
She noted that a joint task force was promptly established in coordination with Eskan Bank to formulate an implementation plan. The plan includes completing ongoing housing projects, supporting private sector initiatives to increase housing availability, and continuing efforts to expand financing programmes.
Minister Al Rumaihi highlighted that the allocation of the largest-ever budget for social housing in the 2025 – 2026 state budget, amounting to BHD 800 million, will facilitate the provision of thousands of housing services, including projects and financing programmes. This reflects Bahrain’s ability to realise His Majesty’s vision of delivering 50,000 new housing units and ensuring suitable housing for citizens.
She added that Eskan Bank will play a key role in the next phase by supporting housing projects and programmes, increasing real estate sector capacity, expanding housing options, and ensuring citizens can access housing services without prolonged waiting periods.
